Anna Bligh, Paul Tully and Twitter

Queensland Councillor Paul Tully recently went into damage control after his twitter profile published some incorrect information about flood victims. Queensland Premier Anna Bligh spoke out against his irresponsible behaviour. Here's a fine example of social media being misunderstood and mis-used. Watch the video to get our take on it.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh is somewhat miffed with Ipswich councillor Paul Tully for incorrectly tweeting about the deaths of two people in the Queensland floods.

Councillor Tully has responded by claiming that his Twitter account is set up to automatically find content containing the keyword “Goodna” and to re-tweet it.

So somebody tweeted about two bodies found in a house in Goodna and Councillor Tully's twitter account found this content and automatically re-tweeted it.

Hmmm, if an automatic re-tweet of somebody else's content based on a piece of software looking for keywords is going to potentially damage your reputation, don't do it.
