We recently launched an online course for WordPress Consultants and a few of my colleagues have been asking for the outline of the prelaunch videos. In the interest of full transparency, I learnt this outline from Brendon Burchard and I have tweaked it to suit my own needs.
To put this into some kind of context, these three videos are sent out to your list as a way of getting them interested in buying your product. We sent our videos to our own internal email list and we had a couple of JV partners send emails to their lists. The videos should be educational by nature and should be such high quality that they stand alone as excellent training.
I hope you find this helpful.
Video #1
- TEASE what you’re going to teach them
- Outline the OPPORTUNITY of what is possible if they watch the video
- Briefly tell them YOUR STORY: who you are, how you struggled and the success you have found
- Issue a WARNING or state something CONTROVERSIAL
- Teach them FRAMEWORK #1: this is where you actually teach them something they can use
- Teach them FRAMEWORK #2: this is where you teach them something to directly overcome their biggest objection
- Outline the PAYOFF: what are the benefits they will receive if they do this?
- CHALLENGE them to create something based on what they have just learnt (in our case we challenged them to write a proposal based on the template we taught them)
- PREVIEW what’s coming up in the next videos and ask for PARTICIPATION by commenting in the Facebook comments below.
Video #2
- APPRECIATION & REVIEW: thanks for the comments, recap what you taught in the previous video and acknowledge those who took the challenge
- TEASE what they are going to learn in this video
- Re-tell the OPPORTUNITY to those who have not (and will not) watch video #1
- Re-tell YOUR STORY and DEMONSTRATE your results
- Showcase SUCCESS STORIES from customers or clients
- Teach them a FRAMEWORK to bust a myth or challenge some old school thinking that might be holding them back
- Teach them a FRAMEWORK to help them overcome their #1 OBJECTION
- Remind them of the PAYOFF of doing this
- PREVIEW what’s coming up in the next videos and ask for PARTICIPATION by commenting in the Facebook comments below.
Video #3
- APPRECIATION & REVIEW: thanks for the comments, recap what you taught in the previous video
- Outline WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN
- Briefly re-tell them YOUR STORY: who you are, how you struggled and the success you have found
- Teach them a FRAMEWORK: this should connect with WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN
- TEASE the SALE coming up in a few days
- Answer the TOP 10 FAQ’s (which are actually the most common objections to buying your product)
- FULL SALES PREVIEW: outline at a high level what is included in your product
- TEASE RELEASE: announce your product will be on sale in a couple of days and you will send them a video to remind them
- TESTIMONIALS: roll video testimonials at the end of this video
At the end of these three videos, if you have done your job, you will have customers emailing you telling you they are ready to buy your product.
Of course there are a lot more details you will need to fill in based on your product and your market. If you really want to learn how to master a video launch like this check out Brendon's training at Total Product Blueprint (no aff link). It's the best $2000 I ever spent. Also check out what Jeff Walker is teaching at Product Launch Formula (aff link). I own it and it's excellent.
If you have been through a series of videos like this or in fact produced a series of videos like this I'd love to hear your comments. Do you enjoy them or do they annoy you?
Would love to see the videos themselves. Would you be willing to share?
Hey Jack,
If you keep your eyes on http://wpelevation.com during the last 2 weeks of May you’ll get to see the entire launch sequence in full swing as we re-open the doors at the start of June.
Hi, Troy. I’ll be honest. I don’t have time or patience to sit through that kind of video sequence. I have literally never made it through a series. I just need to know that you understand my problem, have a concrete solution, and are a credible authority. By the time you launch the last video, I’ll have already bought from someone else who had a similar course available that I could buy without the annoying buildup. I literally bought Amy Porterfield’s List Builder course without attending a single free webinar. A friend just told me it was good.
Hi Cindy – I promise you are in the minority. There are some people who are just ready to buy, but the video launch sequence helps a lot of people make an informed decision about joining our programs. besides, they’re super fun to make. Thanks for stopping by.
